I am featuring projects that can be made in the short time available before Christmas. These are fun, short projects featuring some of Unraveled Sheep’s designers and/or specialty yarns. Stop by Unraveled Sheep for patterns needles and yarn.
Uintah Shawlette by Sheila Toy Stromberg Local Designer
This pattern was written to be a great introduction to knitting shawls! It works up quickly, since it is only comprised of 400 yards of yarn. Garter ridges make up the main body of the work and then blossom out into a drop stitch design that gets increasingly lacier. This pattern is a fantastic vehicle for showing off gorgeous hand dyed yarn! And it’s warm enough for frosty mornings. Serenity 20 from Zen Garden is the perfect yarn for this shawlette.
A Refined Ruffle by Mary Triplett Local Designer
A Refined Ruffle is made out of Marianated Yarns 600 yard gradient yarn kit. (There is also a 1,200 yard kit available) This is a ruffle that simply goes from light to dark in one color. There is a little lace on the edge so the ruffle wouldn’t curl. Short rows make the ruffle, and a simple slip stitch in the middle to give it some stability. I love the way the scarf lays; and, the way it twists and turns. It is fun to play with when you are wearing it – changing where the colors go, where it lays flat and where it twists and turns. I’m surprised such a simple scarf is so much fun.
